If you're a dog owner in Atlanta, you know how important it is to find the perfect spot to take your dog for a walk. Luckily, Atlanta boasts an array of beautiful, dog-friendly parks that provide ample space and amenities for you and your pup to enjoy together. Whether you're seeking open green spaces, scenic trails, or dog-friendly amenities, here are four of the best parks in Atlanta for dog walking:

1. Bobby Jones Golf Course and Park

Nestled in the heart of Buckhead, Bobby Jones Golf Course and Park offers a unique experience for dog owners. This area includes both a beautiful golf course and ample open spaces perfect for walking. The park features well-maintained walking trails that wind along the course and by the scenic creek, giving you and your dog plenty of sights and sounds to explore. Plus, it's connected to the Atlanta BeltLine, so if you're up for a longer adventure, you can continue your walk along this iconic path.

Bobby Jones features a 2 mile greenway around the golf course that's perfect for a long walk with your dog. There are 3 parking areas marked around the course.

2. Chastain Park

Chastain Park, Atlanta’s largest public park, is a favorite among locals for its vast green spaces and numerous walking paths. With over 268 acres to explore, you and your dog can enjoy a variety of trails, from wide-open fields to tree-lined pathways. There are plenty of water fountains and shaded spots to help you both stay cool during warmer months. If you’re looking to extend your visit, Chastain Park offers picnic areas, so you can pack a snack and make it a day of fun. If you're looking for a quick breakfast or coffee before your walk, check out the breakfast café at The Chastain.

3. Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park is arguably Atlanta’s most popular park, and it's easy to see why. This Midtown gem offers breathtaking views of the city skyline, sprawling green lawns, and a fantastic dog park area known as Piedmont Dog Park. The off-leash dog park features two separate fenced-in areas for small and large dogs, complete with water stations and benches for owners. For on-leash walks, Piedmont Park has miles of paved trails that weave through open meadows and around Lake Clara Meer, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful walk with your dog. The park is particularly popular on weekends, so expect a lively atmosphere filled with fellow dog lovers and plenty of canine companions.

This hidden gem features picturesque walking trails, serene creeks, and a beautiful lake, making it a peaceful retreat for dog walkers. Lullwater is an on-leash park, but the serene environment and scenic trails make it well worth the visit.
